Eyes To See, Ears To Hear
Have you ever visualized the road to happiness/joy as a flatline? That once you get to the top of the slope, the walking distance is calm and always in the light?
Just wondering.
I think that’s how I viewed that concept for most of my adolescence.
The idea of a flatline can be comforting like you’ve reached a cozy plateau.
But recently, I had the realization that a flatline can be a sign of absence.
Imagine a heart rate monitor, waveforms and all. Each cardiac rhythm has its own design but yet each one has the same general flow.
In and out, wide then narrow, up and down.
The back and forth keeps the heart working.
The thin lines are needed to accentuate the bold.
If there were no ‘weaker’ lines how would we detect the stronger ones? How would we monitor ourselves or our lives? The in and out of pulses keeps us working.
Our lives are working.
We need the lows and highs to keep going- to be sustainable.
With everything happening in the world right now, peace can be the most valuable.
The things you can’t put a price on are usually the most valuable.
If you have some peace, please protect it.
As for me, I’m using this time to find new things to invest in. New ways to practice discipline and reap some source of good. Even though I probably won’t see any of that fruit in the short term, just having hope and faith leaves room for God to work.
Just more things to look forward to.
